“Go Beyond” is the theme that resonates within our walls for this O-Week. On Tuesday16 July, we welcomed over 400 students on campus, and their energy was contagious. From the moment they arrived, they received the best tips and advice on how to elevate their journey on campus.
Professor Lina Pelliccione, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Mauritius, warmly welcomed new students starting their semester in July 2024, officially inducting them into the Curtin University Global Community. During her address, she emphasized the significance of academic regalia in marking milestones like orientation and graduation, highlighting Curtin’s vision of fostering impactful partnerships and encouraging students to envision their future contributions to this vision.
It was also a privilege to have Mrs. Marina Ythier-Jacobsz, CEO of Maluti Communications, as our guest speaker this semester. In a fun speech filled with anecdotes, Mrs. Marina shared valuable tips on what employers look for and the skills young people should develop during their time here. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, leadership, finding mentors, strengthening communication skills, understanding non-verbal and persuasive communication, being mindful of social media presence, and striving for a balance between university and life to find happiness and avoid burnout.
