O-Week Semester 2 2020
Our second orientation programme of 2020 took place the first week of August. More than 400 new Curtin students eagerly attended in anticipation of the journey ahead.
The Executive Director, Dr Jeremy Charoux delivered his welcoming address. Dr Charoux highlighted the importance of graduating work-ready and provided valuable insights on the importance of developing not only one’s academic knowledge but also one’s ‘soft skills’. Dr Charoux confirmed that the study experience ahead of them would provide an excellent balance of the two in this regard.
Professor Lina Pelliccione, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Curtin Mauritius, started by congratulating the students for their secondary school success. She began by congratulating each and every student on their academic journey to date and thanked them for making Curtin their choice. She provided an excellent overview of Curtin’s global connectivity and strong industry links.
Students then commenced the Semester START workshops, specifically designed to introduce new students to their faculty lecturers and to provide them with an overview their chosen course. The workshops included tips on how to best optimize their learning experience and was followed by an overview of the various digital learning platforms that will be utilized throughout their course. It is was an action-packed orientation and we hope our students enjoyed it as much as we did!
